Blood points
« on: October 23, 2006, 03:50:21 AM »

i was thinking about 3x con. and a mod. for body mass ( +extra for the large or heavy and a minus for the tiny).

i was also thinking of a 10% increase to bloodpoints per level. however that starts slow but in the end it get really extream
a 150 bp at level 1 end up with over 900 by level 20. that might be a bit much though.

I like the first idea, but I think 10% per level will be a bit much. How about we tie it to Damage Mitigation updates? That occurs every 5 levels. It still wont be huge, but it wouldnt be terrible... base 40 CON - 120 BP
5th Level - 132 BP
10th Level - 145 BP
15th Level - 160 BP
20th Level - 176 BP

sounds good but lets use 20% instead that way by the time they are 20lvl they double blood points
1lvl   120
5lvl   144
10lvl 172.8
15lvl 207.36
20lvl 248.83

Looks good so far, either method.

Question: What is the bleed out rate with the new totals?

I think the highest bleed crit in the game is 35... so around 7 seconds?

A wound of that severity is dang near instantly deadly... its assuming an aorta or jugular hit.

I went back and looked and 45 is actually the highest, but that takes into consideration you've lost a limb. I also discovered a mistake in the damage charts I need to fix... right now, you lose more blood from a lost arm than you do a lost leg :P

I'll call my paramedic friend and see what she thinks :)

Sounds good :).

Are you planning of having a point in bleed out similiar to D&D with stopping the bleeding before you hit neg 10?

Basically at 0 BP, you die.

Should hear from my Paramedic friend today... she was out of town over the weekend. I'll post up what she says and we can evaluate the chart and number of BPs from there.

Ok, got some basic info... all things being the same a person whose leg is lopped off (mid thigh) should bleed out in about 30 seconds...

If its your arm, then you have about 50 seconds.

This of course means I need to redo the charts too, as some were... well, not right :P
